Where to go for trumpet replating?
I have an old "Olds Ambassador" trumpet that plays well, but is quite unsightly. I'd like to look at getting it replated, but I'm not sure who does this well. I have a Conn 88-H SGX sterling silver and gold trombone and I'd like to find someone who can custom plate my trumpet to match (in other words, they can do more than one plating). I've also considered silver/nickle with a rose brass bell and lead pipe.
Any advice would be amazing!

Honestly, while it is possible to have you Olds Ambassador trumpet overhauled and silver plated, it is a fairly costly process. Realistically, you have a trumpet that's worth in the vicinity of $150.00 (as is), and the cost of doing the work will run between $595.00 and $885.00, not including shipping. That is a bit upside-down, money-wise. However, it is your decision as to whether to have the work done, or not.
The lower-priced replate option would probably require a chem-clean, which adds $100.00 to the price. And, if dent work is required, you have to go with the overhaul. Lacquer removal and buffing are a part of the process.

The plating is done by Anderson Plating Company, one of the best in the business. If you go directly to Anderson to have the work done, it will cost a lot more than going through a reputable repair shop.
Another excellent repair shop is Charlie's Brass Works. I have used him to have work done and his workmanship is outstanding! His prices are about the same as what you will find around the US.

As for wanting the bell to be rose brass colored, you could have a goldwash done on the inside of the bell in a shade of gold that leans towards the red end of the gold spectrum. That would obviously add to the prices above.
