For any trumpet players out there experienced with Giardinelli mouthpieces...?
I am currently playing on a 7C Giardinelli New York model, and was wondering what would be a better choice to move up to, a 6M or a 5M. I wish to increase my range, endurance, etc. without killing my current range as much.
If you want to stay with a Giardinelli mouthpiece, it would made the most sense to go to a 7M. Increasing your diameter (with the 6M) is likely to cause you to lose range. The other option is to go to a smaller inner diameter, which would be the 10M.
As a side note, these mouthpieces were originally crafted by Vladimir Friedman. He left Giardinelli's when they moved, and he went to work for Jerome Callet. He was there for quite a few years. He has been working at Dillon's Music, in New Jersey, since 2002.
