Is this a good beginner baritone?
http://cgi.ebay.com/CLOSEOUT-NEW-BRASS-ALTO-BARITONE-HORN-FINAL-SALE_W0QQitemZ360114440933QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBrass_Instruments?hash=item360114440933&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4%7C65%3A15%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 i was reading the feed backs and on the baritone feed backs, they are good. i was wondering if your or anyone you know tried this bartione. i am a trumpet player and might switch to baritone. and i don't have much money. so if its not a good baritone, can you help me a find a good cheap baritone at around the same price. thanks.
No it is not. First, you should avoid instruments on ebay that are listed like that. Anything that says CLOSEOUT or new brass baritone or New Gold baritone are instruments that are made in China. These instruments are very unreliable and not worth you're money. Second, that is an alto baritone which isnt used in America very much or at all.
What you should be looking for is a Euphonium preferably made in America. Brand you should look for are Conn, King, Holton.
Yamaha is another good brand (they are made in Japan). Juptiar and Amati horns are made in China or Taiwan but that are a bit more trustworthy.
And just remember, be careful when you buy off ebay. You dont know what exactly you are getting. Make sure they have a return policy. And if you have a local music store I would check there first because you will be able to play before you buy. Also, local music store have rental programs. So if you are not sure you want to stick with the euphonium then you would not have to buy anything.
Something like this would be ok but you could do better.
